Platforms DTC and Tez Customs by Global DTC presented to the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Astana, Kazakhstan, 30 April 2024

An event was held in Astana, organized by the Ministry of Transport of Republic of Kazakhstan to demonstrate advanced technologies and innovations in the logistics industry. Singapore-based company Global DTC showcased the multimodal Digital Trade Corridor (DTC) platform and the Tez Customs platform.

Mr Marat Karabaev, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and other participants got acquainted with the functionality of the DTC platform, in particular with the Track & Trace service, which allows shippers and forwarders to track the location of cargo and its customs status online, and update information on transport documents along the entire Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). At the moment, DTC’s Track-and-Trace is integrated in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, with ongoing efforts to integrate in Georgia. Active discussions are ongoing with Chinese and European stakeholders to roll out DTC’s Track-and-Trace within their regions. This function was successfully piloted on the platform for two shipments – Blocktrain from Xi’an to Absheron in March 2024, which was witnessed by President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, Republic of Kazakhstan and President Ilham Aliyev, Republic of Azerbaijan; and the transportation of two containers from LianYunGang to Absheron on 26 of April 2024. DTC is ready to go live pending KTZ readiness to launch live on the DTC platform.

As a result of the joint effort with JSC NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (KTZ) and the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan (SRC), Tez Customs platform has been successfully tested, to support Kazakhstan’s goal of transparency and speed in the processing of customs declaration of transit cargo at the China-Kazakhstan border. The Tez Customs platform automates the paperless customs transit process, including the preparation of preliminary information, automatic registration and issuance of transit declarations. At the same time, the SRC information system receives automated updates about the arrival and departure of containers, and the railway system receives an electronic notification about the release of the declaration and the completion of transit, which allows for the further dispatch of cargo without the need to provide paper declarations. The entire electronic transit declaration process now only takes 30 minutes. Pilot projects on the Altynkol-Saryagash, and Dostyk-Brest Northern routes have all been completed with concession from KTZ and SRC. In total, over 6,000 transit declarations were successfully cleared using Tez Customs platform during the pilot. In May this year, together with KTZ Express, the operational launch of electronic transit registration on the Tez Customs platform for cargo on the China-Uzbekistan route is expected, with subsequent expansion to other transit routes by the end of 2024.

“I am confident that our efforts will make it possible in the medium-term to achieve a credible increase in trade turnover and facilitate transportation through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route across the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The implementation of the projects announced today brings Kazakhstan closer to strengthening its position as the main transit hub in Eurasia. We will continue to work to achieve concrete results to promote TITR on a global scale and increase transit through Kazakhstan by optimizing and automating logistics processes,” said Yeong Wee Tan, CEO of Global DTC.
